Project Description
The Gus Nicks Boulevard Pedestrian Crosswalk will connect the Glade Creek Greenway to the Gish Mill Redevelopment Project. The project will also reduce the likelihood of accidents involving pedestrians attempting to cross Gus Nicks Boulevard, a very heavily traveled right-of-way.
Updates
- Update 1: The construction bid has been awarded to F & B Contractors, Ltd. The project is scheduled to start in early May and completion by early August.
- Update 2: From May 7, 2024 through June 6, 2024, road work to install a pedestrian crosswalk on Gus Nicks Boulevard will take place, and there will be alternating lane closures throughout the project timeframe. The alternating lane closures will be in place from the vicinity of the Town of Vinton/Roanoke City Line at the bridge over Glade Creek to Highland Road. Please use caution and obey the speed limit in the work area for your safety and the safety of the construction workers. If possible, use an alternate route as there may be delays at peak traffic times. Thank you for your patience as the Town makes this upgrade for pedestrian access and safety.
- Update 3: August 12, 2024-PROJECT COMPLETE.
